Auto Expo 2020: Hello everyone, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has unveiled the 2020 Suzuki Gixxer, as well as the 2020 Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, which now meets the upcoming India Stage VI (BS6) emissions regulations. Suzuki has announced that the Japanese brand’s entire Make-in-India product portfolio is now BS6-compliant to meet the upcoming emission norms.

Suzuki’s premium commuter motorcycle in India will continue as the outgoing BS4 model with two bikes, the same design, and bodywork. The power and torque outputs of the two motorcycles have undergone some changes after the switch to meet BS6 regulations.

Let’s Talk About The Specification

Auto Expo: The 249 cc, single overhead cam, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine now makes the same 26 bhp, but slightly over 9,300 rpm. Peak torque has gone down from 22.6 Nm to 22.2 Nm to 0.4 Nm on the BS6 model, but it comes to 7,300 rpm before 200 Rpm. In terms of design and bodywork, the 2020 Suzuki Gixar SF250 retains the same design as the outgoing model. The 2020 Gixxer SF 250 will be commercially launched by the end of February 2020, when prices will be announced. It is expected that the price of the updated motorcycle will be around 1.85-1.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) once launched.

Suzuki Gixxer Has Been Updated

Auto Expo: The 155 cc Suzuki Gixxer has also been updated to meet BS6 regulations. While the design overall is similar to the outgoing BS4 model, the new BS6 Gixxer is expected to be cleaner, although the BS6 engine is causing minimal power loss. While the outgoing model is employed around 14 bhp, the new 2020 Suzuki Gixxer BS6 clocked 13.4 bhp at 8,000 rpm, while peak torque is also compromised, down from 14 Nm to 13,000 Nm and 6,000 rpm. The Suzuki Gixxer BS6 is priced at around 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in 2020, once Suzuki launched it in India.
